On our
wanderings last night we spotted a church that looked like their service could
work for us – 12.30 so Bray didn’t have an early one! Unfortunately when we
arrived the outer doors were shut and it looked like maybe there were already
things happening inside. We double checked the time on the signs and discovered
there were THREE different times all listed...10.30, 11.15 and 12...plus our
bonus time of 12.30! Not willing to risk walking into the front of a happening
event (door location can be tricksy!) we left it for today.
Wandered on
past the boundary of our exploring yesterday and found Meanwhile Gardens - not only
did it have a cool name but the added bonus of houseboats in the canal, more
two tone squirrels, crazy pigeons flocking and funky playgrounds near walls of
mixed graf. Eventually we got a bit chilly and headed home past some Christmas
trees for sale (had a sniff for good measure) to look at plans for exploring London
this week. Re-heated curry with roasted veggies for lunch then consumed it
while watching a little of How to Train
your Dragon.
The light is
disappearing VERY early these days (between 3-4pm!) so after lunch and clean up
we stayed in as Roni did some journaling while Bray explored possible
adventures for the week online. A skype date to catch up with Simon and Maren
was next on our ‘to-do’ list, great to hear all their latest news and more on
the upcoming trip to NZ in January next year...looming large now!
After this
it was time to watch the X-Factor UK final show - we were well into watching
when the smoke alarms in the building went off LOUDLY...this was not something
covered in our pre-brief chat from Chantell! Ummmmed and aaaaahhhed about what
to do until eventually going into the lobby and helping a fellow building-mate
who couldn’t see the instructions now she had taken her contacts out. Buttons
pressed in a variety of sequences and all was quiet again.
Finally peace
reigned again. Whew! Sighs of relief all round as we watched the end of
x-factor before Bray got experimental and straightened Roni’s hair – just to
see what it looked like! After dinner and some relaxing it was time for bed.
