The BIG Trip

CUPCAKES rule.

UNITED KINGDOM | Saturday, 3 December 2011 | Views [331]

Today was preordained as the ‘Day of Cupcakes’. There were about 150 to be made and decorated in preparation for the Christmas Fair tomorrow and reinforcements in the shape of Laura’s Mum and little sister Kate were organised to come from Windsor to assist.

It actually turned out to be a relatively low key and relaxed day. We skyped with Joe and Joelle from 10am for an hour or so which was fantastic to catch up as it had been AGES –  Laura and Roni in and out of the kitchen throughout. The boys then watched some tv before doing useful things like getting last minute groceries and purchasing grass seed and sowing it before drinking beer while  ‘watching it grow’. Laura and Roni basically made cupcakes of various varieties all day – Laura developed a stirring blister. Occasionally while one batch cooked they had a break to watch some TV or at one point erect the Christmas tree…yay – Christmas is coming!

Sausage casserole went in the slow cooker early on so dinner was sorted and one less thing to worry about. Baking part of the mish complete and a wee rest before getting in amongst the icing and decorating. Laura picked up her Mum and Kate while the boys made a MASSIVE batch of plain icing – to be coloured and flavoured as required. When Laura returned the decoration got under way seriously - Laura’s mum also had gingerbread people and shortcake on the go to be sold at the stall too. All cupcakes successfully decorated and put in the car to keep cool in time for sausage casserole consumption with X-Factor watching and relaxing time together before we all hit the hay.
