Both Maren
and Simon had early starts today while Bray’s sore from volleyball body needed
a bit of a lie in! Roni was up and clean/fed in time to skype with her
lil’sister and bro in law (Lisa & Dru). Bray arose to catch up with them
too as it had been an AGE since our last chat in Asia somewhere so much news to
catch up on from both sides of the world!
After this
washing was on the schedule and we packed our bags for the Berlin weekend
before getting into serious work on photo DVDs and journal catch up. The
squirrels are back in action on the back lawn today and we even got to share
their red and fluffy cute-ness with Dru and Lisa this morning.
Bray got the
DVDs all finished and Roni got pretty up to date with the journal before Maren
& Simon came home. We had a quick dinner and packed final things before
hitting the road to Berlin. A fair bit of traffic on the road but we made good
time.
On arriving
at our hostel (booked online – Kiwi owned!) we discovered they were full but
the owner had put us in an apartment they also own nearby. Awesome! A hostel
staff worker crammed into the Toyota Yaris with us to guide us around the
corner to the other place. Once inside we met four young Aussie guys who had
the other two rooms in the apartment. They caused much hilarity with their
colloquial and constant Aussie chat, driven desire to party and experience all
that Berlin had to offer! Eventually they headed out and we were shown our
rooms. Simon was hungry and we all decided we could eat so set out down the
road in the direction of bright lights.
Eventually
we settled for donor kebab – ate it in their well lit and clean store while
marvelling at the spiciness of their optional chilli flakes. Various bets were
floated as to what people were willing to offer others to consume the entire
bowl of chilli flakes – eventually we were dissuaded by Maren the health
professional’s advice!
Wandered
back down the road and got to bed before 1am.
