The BIG Trip

Bryn's Birthday

CAMBODIA | Saturday, 20 August 2011 | Views [723]

A morning with the kids was fun today - some games and then we got to watch 'Up' again...both of us love that movie :-P

Phil went on an epic supermarked mish to collect party supplies while Becky and the kids composed a few bits and pieces to send home. We kept out of the way and busy in the kitchen while this occurred.

After a quick lunch on Phil's return it was full speed ahead on the party set up...a whole lot of furniture to move, candles to arrange, clues to create and storyline to brainstorm.

The basic premise of the party was that Bryn and his friends were Dr Indiana Jones & co who recieved a letter detailing a Khmer Crystal Casket they were to locate. Directions and clues then led them to meet a stranger outside a cafe down the road (to recieve a parcel), home again, climb a rope to obtain a key, find a gold ducat, light candles and proceed upstairs into the darkness through many obstacles, interact with dead warriors, fight zombies and generally adventure their way to the treasure.

Bray had TWO starring roles and got to use his 'scary voice' as well as weilding many swords at once with much skill! Though he almost passed out in the heat of hundreds of candles + Cambodia heat with no fans or windows open (they would blow out the candles!). Phil was a couple of zombies and Roni got to be a stranger at the cafe before returning with Becky to film/accompany the treasure seekers.

After the treasure was obtained there were charcoal BBQ-d sausages in buns, fizzy drinks and marshmallow charring/toasting before cake and create-your-own-sundae time. Bray has found a kindred spirit in Phil...their capacity to consume ice cream is impressive!

Once the kids had been packed off home and everything tidied away the grown-ups...yes that DOES include Bray and Roni :-P...had a cuppa and relaxed. We looked at video and pics from the party then watched a little 'MegaMind' before collapsing into bed.
