The BIG Trip

A rest day...of sorts

LAOS | Sunday, 17 July 2011 | Views [475]

I'm not sure if the alarm going off at 5am counts as a 'rest day' but in the end it felt like it!

We got up early to climb That Phi Si (Luang Prabang's sacred hill) and beat the hordes. It was great - quite cool, hardly anyone around and not much haze so great photo taking opportunity...Bray made the most of it. The steps just seem to keep going as you walk up...partway up someone has written '190 steps to go'! :-)

The view was great - mountains, Luang Prabang, sun coming up, lots of birds, gecko and interesting insects/bugs.

We came down the other side of the hill - past multiple Bhudda statues, through a cave, past a Bhudda footprint and a few naga for good measure.

Had a wee nosy around that side of Luang Prabang but by this time we were definitely in need of some breakfast! Grabbed some kai then headed home.

Walked around a fair bit in the heat of the day looking for somewhere with Wi-fi AND earthed plugs....eventually found an electronics store and bought an adaptor for our adaptor! Yay - now we can use the laptop WITH power at the places we stay.

Baguette and watermelon for lunch then ended up napping, reading and relaxing until dinner time.

Out for noodle dinner and purchased a few local snacks for later - most of which we would definitely buy again but one that will last us a LONG time...

Tomorrow we are off to the info centre to organise our next movements...heading through Laos and toward Vietnam!
