    The words “Ground Zero” are originally used in the military for the point where an explosion with immense destructive proportions occurs. Now this is a synonym for 2753 people who were killed at this place on 9/11/2001. But the number of destroyed lives is much greater. This photo shows one of the memorials which pays tribute to all the victims, their families but also heroes of this day. by: bene Views[167] It's name was created from the nickname “Empire State” given to New York. As the worlds tallest building with a height of 381 m from 1931 till 1972 it symbolized New York's commerce and excellence in architecture. New York was trying to catch the worlds attention. The idea behind my picture is to invite the viewer to use the binoculars for a clearer view of New York's skyline. by: bene Views[154] Time Square, one of the worlds busiest intersections alined with eyeball grabbing billboards and brightly lit lights to make even the darkest night look like a sunny day. “Buy me” shouts from big displays by the immediate turn of a corner. This icon brings in more than 39 million tourists each year and has become such an iconic part of New York that the square now requires the buildings to be covered with billboards! by: bene Views[202] When your walking through New York's street canyons, the vibrations of the subway are pulsating through your whole body like a heartbeat under your feet. The Subway is more than just a train, it is a way to link the New Yorkers together. This is why it sometimes is referred to as “The heart of the city”. All kinds of people, from businessmen to grandmothers, need the most sizable underground network in the world. With 1.64 billion rides a year it keeps the city in flow. by: bene Views[190] Millions of rushing people are passing by each other in a daily New York routine.
