....and it was phenomenal!!
Our group headed out in taxis (well, trucks with flatbeds that we all piled into) and spent the morning at Puerto Chino...a beach about 30mins from the station. We sat in the sun, walked the beach, walked the rocks for fantastic views...oh yeah...and swam with a sea lion! There were a few of them hanging out on the beach with us and on some rocks...then one joined us for some play time. He spent about an hour surfing the waves with us (super cool seeing him glide through the clear water of the waves), darting in and around our group, blowing bubbles at us...just amazing. The animals in the Galapagos have no fear of humans and just seem to be intrigued by us....or just plain bored when they don't feel Iike being around us! This goes for sea lions, birds, iguanas, turtles, sharks...phenomenal. Just phenomenal.
After a lunch of sammies on the beach, we got back in our 'taxis' and headed into town - Puerto Baquerizo Moreno - for a weekend of hot showers, no mossies, cookies, coke, ice cream and comfy beds (amazing how good a corneto tastes after a week in the forest).
Phil and I were keen to get some diving organized ASAP so found an operator called Tranquil Divers and arranged a 2 tank for Saturday, with visits to local beaches, lunch, etc. Woop woop!
The group headed out separately for dinner and drinks, and all ended up at a bar for late happy hour. As usual when I'm diving the next day, I called it quits around 10pm and headed back to the hotel...I'm such a cool kid :)
