#16 Lovin the Team Lovin' on the Girls.

I love the state of our team right now. There is such an openness and closeness, a new level of trust. There is no fear in conversations, we share our feelings and exactly how we think things are going, respectfully of course. We’ve all been stepping in to our roles and taking control. We mesh really well and know each other’s strengths. I wasn’t sure if we would get closer as a team because we seemed to plateau at one spot for so long. I’m glad it didn’t stay that way.

Our relationships with each other are getting better which increases our team’s unity. We joke around so much and have had some really good family time. We seem to have finally fallen in to place. This is what I’ve heard DTS OR teams are supposed to be like. Either something wasn’t working before or you’re supposed to have that long of a period at the base together before heading off on your outreach so that you are at this point in your relationship before jumping in to things.

Alright so I figured I’ve gone off so many times about the girls during ministry times that I should share how we are out of ministry these days. God’s been really helping me let things go, break awkward silences and love. So the free time the girls and I have shared together has changed a lot.

It sounds really dorky but the last week in India we all agreed to have “pillow talk” at night. Computers, IPods, movies, etc. all go off so we can all talk about random whatever before bed. It relieves stress, gives time to share and makes sure we all talk to each other at least once during the day. Believe it or not you can live in the same room and not talk all day. We play cards, joke tons and go for walks to shopping places (we can go without a guy if there’s four of us, not like the guys would take us even if we needed them but that’s another story in its own).

It’s been good as well because we keep shorter accounts with each other. “What’d you mean by this? Why the tone? Sorry for/you bugged me when” Frees the air right away. Makes it really easy to talk about anything when there is nothing in the way. We have been encouraging and uplifting each other helping one another grow closer and with God. We pray for each other when anything is wrong and are really sensitive and aware around each other so we can tell when something’s off.  It took a while but we (with a lot of God’s help) ironed out our problems and stepped down from our strong differences, opinions, and stubborn independent natures.

In my opinion anyway……
