My Scholarship entry - A walk in the old streets of Lahore

I am Srosh Anwar from Pakistan. I used to collect pictures of my friend and family and then one day I bought a very inexpensive digital camera and started capturing everything around me from pictures of friends and family to my city. What was just a hobby in the beginning started becoming a passion. Taking pictures was a discovery which put me in context with my surrounding, culture and relationships. I was able to share my experiences and insights with other people, which was a huge step for an introvert person like me. My inspiration for photography comes from my city, Lahore which has got a wonderfully diverse architecture, culture and history.
Being a women photographer in this part of the world had been both exciting as well as overwhelming experience. On one hand I have got an edge to get up close and personal while photographing women and children, on the other hand, in a male dominated society, I have too many forbidden territories and unseen boundaries. But I am not discouraged by minor setbacks. I want to explore new territories, experience new cultures to start a new journey of visual story telling through wonderful opportunity that this scholarship presents.
