My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited - Suburbia Up Close

To me, photography is about seeing the world in unadulterated fashion but composed beautifully to evoke emotions and make an impact. Through words, I have applied this view as a journalist but to tell stories through photography – that may even help raise awareness on social and environmental issues – is my greatest aspiration.
I love taking photographs of people in their natural setting, of wildlife, landscapes and scenes expressing the uniqueness of cultures and highlight social issues – much of the latter in the Philippines, where I grew up and tinkered with my father’s old SLR camera before finally saving enough to buy my own. Now living in Australia, my passion for photography continues to grow particularly for sights whose beauty and simplicity we sometimes take for granted.
Capturing the natural beauty of what we are and what we have along with the imperfections drive me to take better shots so much so that I’d typically run out of memory space. I’m driven by my dedication to keep learning from every shot I make and thankfully this opportunity to learn from Jason Edwards came along that, if I win, I would take full advantage of to become a good photographer.
