Peru Mission is partnering with Hogar de Esperanza, the orphanage just on the outside of town. It is a home of hope for 41 children. This afternoon we took our team of three doctors and we played with the children and also gave half of them a quick check up. It was a joy for me to see old friends and forge new friendships. The kids were so funny! They loved playing “doctor” while getting their own check up. One kept listening to our chests and pronouncing our ailments. “Rabies!” “Virus!” “Tumor!” As Marcus asked, “what is wrong with me?” the child said in his most professional doctor voice, “I am trying to tell you!” At the end of the day, we all were diagnosed and prescribed the following: “Share God’s love. Love the little children.” And we took our medicine with joy and privilege! As we were leaving two boys jumped in our cab to go home with us. A volunteer explained that they were especially eager to be adopted, but that it may be an answered prayer soon. There is a family that is interested! Pray that God will find homes for these beloved children.
