Transformers at the Beach!

Transformers at the Beach!

This weekend Arielle and I decided to take it easy and relax on our subtropical island by staying indoors. :)  Ok, so that might not always be true, but for this weekend, it was.  I spent part of my weekend putting together the three models pictured above.  They are simple models that I picked up in the candy section on the island.  Pictured above you will see the 1980s version of Optimus Prime on the far right, the animated version of Optimus Prime from a recent Transformer cartoon in the middle.  Finally, the one on the far left is Star Saber.  Star Saber was unknown to me or at least I had forgotten his character.  For more information on Star Saber, here is his wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Saber

Shown below is an action shot of Arielle working on her tie purses.  She was busy working on them while I was putting my models together.  Unfortunately, the sewing machine she is pictured using no longer does an accurate zigzag stitch so we purchased a new sewing machine seen at the other end of the table.  So now, it looks like she has an assembly line going with one machine set up for straight stitch and the other setup for the zigzag.

Sometimes I just have to laugh at my crafting efforts. I think the timing is off on my wonderful Singer machine and that's why the zigzag isn't working correctly. But of course, no where to repair a Singer on island. So, we purchased a Brother machine (the most popular brand in Japan.) It does zigzag perfectly...but I think my Singer was afraid I was going to put it to the side and forget about it so it strong-armed the Brother into not being able to do the straight stitching I needed. So, as Brandon said, I'm using two machines and they both seem happy. As Bill Murray said, "Keep the talent happy." ---Arielle
