What better way to spend Thanksgiving overseas than traveling? We just got back from a wonderful, long weekend in Tokyo. (We didn't get to actually ride on the Pikachu plan, but thought it was neat!) We got up at 3:30am on Thanksgiving morning to meet up with the tour group and catch a 2 hour flight to Tokyo. (Two hour flight to Tokyo, 3 hour flight on the way home.) This was Brandon's first trip to the "big city" and I was thrilled to be visiting my home-away-from-home again.
We discovered that our informal tour guide was actually a bigger Star Wars fan than I am (I know, I know, it's almost impossible to imagine) and so the three of us spent our free afternoon and evening scouring Tokyo from west to east for Star Wars, Star Trek, and Transformer action figures. We had so much fun and ended up with two large bags worth of great action figure finds!!!
We had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe in Ueno. I enjoyed a Hello Kitty hamburger meal (one of their specials at the moment) and we were pleasantly surprised to see an Elvis music video during dinner - made us think of Mama. I think he's following us! :) [An interesting bit of trivia for you: the first time Brandon and I met face to face we went out to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe in Cleveland. And then proceeded to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls the following day. We also got to wave as we rode by the Hard Rock Cafe in Rome, Italy this spring. Needless to say, we have a connection with Hard Rock Cafes.]
Overall, a fun way to spend Thanksgiving. We hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, too! Stay tuned for more posts about our trip...
