Rainy Weather and Memories

Here we are again! Another update, more stories, memories and moments that we are excited to share with those following us on our journey! As I said in my last post, Monday, August 22nd we rolled into Canmore and stayed with my good friend Leah! Leah and I go way back to when we first moved to BC from Ontario and we were the best of friends instantly in '96! So of course, it was wonderful to finally have time to catch up since we both are now parents and living very different lives than we did when we were 11 and getting into all kinds of trouble back then! We hung out at her house and Abbey was in her glory because she got to play video games pretty much the whole day! It was too cold for her to be outside and so because she doesn't get that luxury at home we figured why not! I mean it is vacation after all! After we moved over to Leah's camper, set Abbey up with a movie and Leah, Megan and I went outside to have a fire! We chatted and chatted and it was perfect! Some friendships were meant to last a lifetime and that is definitely one! Memories that I will cherish for a long time to come!

Tuesday, August 23rd we woke up and it was still cold out. We were getting a bit concerned about Abbeys bones as she was already complaining about pain, and maybe... Just maybe, a bit concerned with our sanity too. Lol So we decided the night before that we would book a hotel room for Tuesday night in Calgary. A nice reprieve from the cold, rainy weather! I mean come on, it snowed in Lake Louise literally as we left. It was freezing up here in Alberta. Haha So Tuesday was pretty uneventful as we showed up to our hotel (a little on the sketchy side but hey, a warm bed is a warm bed!) and dropped off some laundry and swam in the pool (not the cleanest pool that's for sure lol)!

Wednesday, August 24th We had a great night sleeps in a warm room the night before and were ready to start the next leg of our trip! We were headed to Dinosaur town and quite excited for our first night there! We searched out prior to coming to Drumheller camping in Teepees. This put Abbey over the moon with excitement! So we booked it and she couldn't of been happier! We arrived in Drumheller and got our keys to the teepee for the night! It was pretty great and even better, it gave us shelter from the rain when we needed it! At the campground Abbey had two parks and was so happy! She played non stop for hours with kids and has been loving life! Megan on the other hand was being eaten alive my Mosquitos. Her entire body was just one giant bite and her body was not reacting well at all. Swollen everything lol She made the best of it with me though and had a fire in the evening since the rain held off.  That night we slept in the teepee, which was exactly what Abbey had been counting down for since before we left on our trip! It was exactly what she imagined! Haha

And that brings us to today! Thursday, August 25th! We were excited to spend another day and night in Drumheller but we had to move over to a tent site! (I couldn't imagine spending money on two nights in a teepee when we had a perfectly good house in our tent for half the price hahaha) and so we had breakfast in the teepee and then moved over our stuff into our tent! We set up and off we went to check out the Tyrell Museum! Of course first we had to grab some benadryl before we lost Megan to bites! Lol We spent the majority of the day in the museum, we attempted to go on a hike of the badlands but unfortunately as soon as we got to the top of the first hill, thunder and lightening struck and tour guide said we had to head back! We made the best of it though and finished the museum  and stayed dry! We loved the museum, and then headed to the worlds largest dinosaur to climb to the top of it (of course once the lightening took a break) and then Abbey relaxed in the car as we took a scenic tour around the badlands! We had to take another tiny ferry across a river again because the road just came to an end and started on the other side of water. Lol It was fun and beautiful as you will see in the pictures on facebook(when I get around to uploading them). We headed back to our campground only then to experience a crazy thunder and lightening storm that was way too close comfort. We hid out in our tent from the rain and crazy weather and made hilarious videos of Abbey! We then snuck out for dinner and now that brings me to the present! Time to curl up and say goodnight! We are off tomorrow and can't wait to share with you the memories we continue to make!

Love and Peace
