Travel Documentary Scholarship 2009: Maranatha's Final Doco

WORLDWIDE | Wednesday, 11 November 2009 | Views [14924]

Maranatha delves deep into the Vietnam social fabric and finds a story that is still very much an open wound for Vietnam.

She treks  through Chau valley in North Vietnam with a medical team who offer medical relief for the people there.  She learns that whilst this proud country defeated the might of a world superpower,  Vietnam still bears the scars of the war.  The Agent Orange that was sprayed across the land like a carpet, polluted the water and has affected the health of the children born decades later.

She presents a truly  evocative portrayal of a father whose two children were blind due to the insidious after affects of Agent Orange.

National Geographic are currently reviewing the video so stay tuned to find out if it will be going to broadcast.

Well done Maranatha. We know you will go far!
