Temple of Heaven

At last, the Round Altar, or Yuan Qiu, also known as Circular Mound Altar, which is where the Ming and Qing emperors came to worship heaven. The altar is round to signify heaven, while the surrounding wall is square, to signify earth. The Altar was built around 1530 by Ming emperor Jiajing.
