Ceviche and Pina Coladas at Telamar

Ceviche and Pina Coladas at Telamar

Zhu Zhu and I spent the “holy week” here in Tela, a sleepy little broken down seaside town.  With the holiday week many people from out of town gather in Tela.  Most of the tourist is local.  We spent Monday walking on the beach and getting 3 dollar Pina Colada on the beach.  The best hotel or resort there is Villa de Telamar.  Good ceviche and nice atmosphere.  Once you past the Villa…..the town crumbles and poverty is well defined.  It’s pretty easy to get around just by walking…..it’s a town about 5 x 5 blocks and we live in the edge of the town.  However, on some hot sweltering days…..or dark into the night it is not highly advised.  Taxis here are a bit different.  It’s more like a small bus.  It charges per person and people just pile in!

Spending a week here in Tela I was able to see the difference in the rich and the poor in Honduras.  At Telamar…..Zhu Zhu and I were awe by the amount of nice cars we see (Mercedes, Cadillac and even a Ferrari).  It’s almost comical to see a shiny Mercedes next to a horse pull cart sharing the same road.  If I can capture a pic I’ll definitely post it.  Over all it was very relaxing and enjoyable!  Smart idea Zhu Zhu
