Settling

OK so I've been here nearly 2 weeks (12 days) and I finally feel like I'm starting to settle in. I still get those odd moments where I think "O yeah, I'm in Vancouver!" Ok so those moments happen regularly. I feel like pinching myself to check if this is real as I can't seem to shake the dream like feeling that I have at being here. I make it a point to go out every day and try something new - a new route, a new dish, a new shoe... Coffee is pretty popular here so I'm trying to build my tolerance up for it. So far I've tried a white chocolate Mocha (yyyyyyyyyyuuuuuuuuummmmmmm!!!!!) and a vanilla coffee and from these I have learnt add losts of milk or I'll be bouncing off the wall for a good 2 hours! I tell you my heart was racing so fast, you'd have thought I'd run a marathon, and for those that know me you know that's probably as close to a marathon that I'm going to get! But my all time favourite so far is Peppermint Hot Chocolate from Minks Chocolate! (Angels singing). My days it was like all other hot chocolate had been poor imitations of this delicious produce! The only disappointment for me is that I'm not to hot on their sweets and desserts. What I've tasted so far tastes like pure sugar and that is sooooo not my thing. I had visions of me scoffing my face with all the desserts I can find like the fat kid in Charlie and the chocolate factory just before he got sucked into the tube thing. But nope, no binging here except for all you can eat chinese pears which are pretty great in themselves. Where I'm staying feels like I'm in a valley as I'm surrounded by mountains . Absolutely gorgeous. And being only 7 minutes from Jericho Beach is not too shabby either. Its a really nice beach to walk on. Last week I say a Bald Headed Eagle swoop down to steal a fish a seagull had been pecking at. It was only a few feet from me and absolutely amazing! All in all I love this place and people are generally really nice which helps loads when I find myself asking for directions after walking the same street 5 or 6 times.
