2009 Finally decide to take a year out in Canada, so lets see what happens.

My First Week

CANADA | Sunday, 1 February 2009 | Views [312]

I'm here! I'm here!  I'm really really here!

I arrived in Vancouver on Tuesday it's taken me this long to get over my jet lag!  10 hours flying, of which i had planned to watch as many movies as i could in that space of time, but instead zoinked out about 1 hour after we set off.  A real light weight! But I woke up in time for the landing.  And my first view of Vancouver was a snow covered landing area.  It was beautiful!  And inside the airport is a man made waterfall and lots of Native American style totems.  Customs were really nice. I've been advised that as long as I don't perform any brain surgery I should be fine in Canada.  Guess I have to find a new hobby.

No underground here, but the public transport is really good.  And the drivers are really nice!  Heck the extent of communication I'm used to is "move down the bus/train!"  Here the drivers give you commentary about the area, the pending traffic, and they say Hi and bye when you get on and off the bus.  So cool.

In general, everyone is really nice here and many of them go out of their way to help you.  The food,  my days the food portions are huge!  All I need is 1 meal a deal at this rate!

I'm staying in Kitsilano for a while, which is also really nice and 7 minutes away from the beach (bonus!) and not too far from North Vancouver (which is where I plan to do most of my sight seeing).  All in all, my first week has been fab and am so looking forward to the next 51 weeks!
