Kicking myself all the way

The second and last goodbye

USA | Wednesday, 22 April 2015 | Views [151]

Well P is on his way back North on his lonesome - travelling new roads up the West coast this time - including a medium stretch of dirt into Scorpion Bay, then a longer and trickier part the following day out along the salt flats and dune trails and tracks up to San Ignacio. After that I think he is slogging it over the ridge via Catavinia  then Ensenada awaits and home to Encinitas. Well my home - but he still has a few days off there (after he has cleaned the KTM he insists on leaving with me of course).

Baja wasn't ready for us to have a poignant goodbye after a planned breakfast on the Malacon or course. Under his KTM this morning a pool of petrol awaited - emanating from what we eventually found to be the low fuel sender unit in the left flank of the tank. So breakfast and a Baja - fix later we said our goodbyes - Each anxious for the other. Each anxious for themselves.

Back at the hotel I am now girding myself for the next phase - to misquote another famous (!) Brit: 'This is not the beginning of the end. Indeed this is not even the end of the beginning, but perhaps it is the beginning of the end of the beginning '. Sorry if I butchered it but I hope you get my drift.
