Firenze - Under the Tuscan Sun... And rain

ITALY | Thursday, 7 March 2013 | Views [283]

After arriving to perfect blue skies and sunshine the first few days, the rain seems to have set in for a while. But it's still around 17 degrees during the day.

tuesday night I went with a small group of other students for an orientation walk around Florence in the early evening. It was very interesting and  I got to meet others.

Wednesday night I went to Kitsch Deux - an Aperitvo Bar. Apparently  they are common throughout Italy. We each bought a cocktail ( me , a Mojita...yum) for 9 euro then you get to help yourself to an abundant buffet followed by fresh fruit salad. It was a great night with 7 other students.

Tonight I'm going to Love Duets which is a selection of love songs from various operas. Apparently they explain the story in English first then you listen to the songs. It lasts just over an hour and is about 2 minutes walk from mia casa. The apartment is so central and close to the Ponte Vecchio but is pretty noisy during the night. Usually, I am so tired that I think I'd sleep through anything.

slowly, my Italian is improving and I'm not freezing up so much when I am asked a question. Our teacher, Marco, is very good and patient.

so now Ive been here only 5 days but things are settling well. The only down side is that my home stay doesn't have the Internet and the school wifi is painfully slow.however, I've found this good cafe in Santa Spirito which has good food, wine and done hour's free Internet per day.

i got an Italian SIM card yesterday. But haven't quite got it Sussed.

A presto!
