One Wilde Woman's adventures

Dubai and Roma

NEW ZEALAND | Saturday, 2 March 2013 | Views [318]

Dubai was better than I expected! Dave met me at the airport after a long, delayed flight and immediately took more to the Burj Kalifar - the tallest tower in the world. We went to the observation deck 124 storeys high. Magnificent views! On the ground you easily lose perspective of how tall so many of the buildings are.

Watching for camels on the side of the road on the way to Toms rugby game or spotting them sitting in the back of a ute was all good fun. I was  very lucky to be able to go to the  womens finals of the Dubai Tennis Open. The atmosphere was electric!

I had a great week spending time with my Dubai relies And generally relaxing in the warmth.

On to Italy.... But fog delayed our departure by 3 hours!

Claire was at the airport to meet me. It was so good to see her again! We have walked and walked the streets of Rome and visited lots of attractions. Eg. The colleseum, Pantheon, Paletino Hill, the Forum, la Fontana di Trevi, various piazza, the Vatican ( Pope Benedict retired and left yesterday), Spanish Steps, Sistine Chapel etc etc. and of course we have been trying the delicious Italian food.

The weather has been great especially for this time of year! Blue skies and sunshine and a warm jacket...what a wonderful way to see Rome in late February without too many tourists.

Ciao for now.
