Rabat the capital of Morocco. I had travelled by myself from Meknes to Rabat by train, found and checked into the hostel, made friends with some more Americans from Louisiana (Travis, Leah, & Michelle), and was scoping out the surf scene when low and behold I run into my old friend David, again.
That evening a group, we stumbled upon what appeared to be a street circus! Apparently, the city hosts a free carnival for children. It comes complete with face painting, a stage, and street performers. We watched with interested as they performed ribbon ballet (a 3-pole tent is set-up with large ribbons/curtains hanging from them to wrap around their bodies as they're airborne, very Cirque de Sole) and made friends with a hip-hop dancing clown. To our shock and humor the stage came alive with Mickey and Minnie Mouse along with the 7 Dwarfs!! And all this time I thought I had escaped Florida :)
Our friendship with the clown (Yassine) proved to be one that would lead to many and make an unforgettable trip!
