Our flight from LAX was easy and uneventful. Both of the kids enjoyed it and slept well, despite the cramped quarters. Elijah longed to be in 1st class, where there was lots of room to spread out. I think our biggest challenge and our biggest success was fitting all we needed in our small suitcases.
Our stay in London was too brief and immensely fun! We visited the Science Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery (thanks Annie Perkins for the great recommendation!), and the Tower of London. Plus we celebrated Chinese New Year in Chinatown. The streets were full of people and hung thickly with red paper lanterns. Natasha and Elijah excitedly smashed their fire cracker squibs at each others' feet. It was an exciting evening for us all.
Today we traveled by train to Paris. Natasha wept for home and friends, but she rallied this afternoon. Our tiny apartment on the Ile St Louis is in an ancient building and just near a beautiful chocolate shop (that cheered Natasha!). After visiting Notre Dame, we had a pizza dinner on the left bank and crepes for dessert. I think we are all exhausted and ready for a rest. Too tired to work in our journals tonight. Hope all is well at home. -- MaryAnne
