Chiang Mai

THAILAND | Wednesday, 4 July 2007 | Views [973] | Comments [6]

So i made it through the overnight train...what an experience... very hot and bug-filled... but now i'm in chiang mai and will take off on a 3 day trek in the morning.  Went shopping and walked around the old city a little this morning.

Right now, i'm sitting in The Travel Hub on the east side of the old city.  If you're ever in the area, you can get all your technological needs met here.  (www.travelhubchiangmai.com) And if you write about it in your blog, you get 3 hours of free internet access!  lol...

So anyway, Nat H. and I have gone separate ways today, but are meeting up at one of the wats (buddhist temples) to go to "Monk Chat." We get to sitt around and ask about buddhism and monastic life, etc...  Should be fun.

I am sooo thankful for Natalie H.  I really do believe that God brought us together.  She is 23, canadian, and just graduated with a degree in philosophy.  We are having a great time laughing at things that would be terrifying alone!

Natalie is not a believer.  She is very spiritual and says she comes from a 'buddhist orientation.' Not sure what that means, but she is definitely searching for God.  Please pray that God will use me to show Jesus to her.  She is asking me alot of questions about Christianity, and we have talked alot about God and meditation and spiritual things.  She is very curious and open, so pray that God will give me the right words at the right times, but mostly that Christ will live through me and spill out onto her!

Thanks for the sweet comments!  Love yáll!  (i get made fun of for the ýa'll thing here... but nat h. is always saying éh?'...lol..)

oh i posted some pictures, but i'm not sure when they will show up.  it may be tomorrow so check them out!

Well hello darlin!!! I miss you!!! Ok, so I know you're adventuring in Thailand but while you're over there I'm trying to plan out our camping adventure for when you get back home. So I found a state park in Bandera (above San Antonio) that we can ride horses and go tubing or kayaking down the river for a few days. Anyway...just wanted to keep you posted. OHH and I went on a date w/ that guy last night!! Yay for a date on the fourth!! We watched the fireworks! And we blew off homework to watch a movie, lol. It was real fun. Ok well I'll quit blabbing and putting my personal life out there for everyone to read. Keep having a good time and building that relationship with Nat H. God's kind of random sometimes, lol, but that's real cool. Have fun and I love you!!!!

Well Gal you are doin it! We certainly are keeping you in our prayers. We are so thankful that you have someone to buddy with on at least part of the trip. We know that the Lord will use you there. God Bless. (Didn't know we were going to need to ask the Lord to close the mouths of the "lions" for you, Ha.) Love you, Nanny and Grandad

hey nat....both your momma and your nanny sent us this journal site so that we could keep track of you, which we are doing and enjoying very much. i have to tell you, though, that your nanny and i were praying you would change your mind and not go. sorry! we are from another generation, you know. your nanny and i think adventure is successfully finding our car in the mall parking lot!
so glad you found a friend to travel with, and, yes, we have now included natalie h. in our prayers, as well.
love you, natalie. .......aunt sue and uncle harold

i have to agree with sue about the mall parking lot adventure. sydney and i wandered exploring the many sights with fearful trepidation- there were no tigers but there were some tough human characters- in the hospital parking lot day before yesterday! it took about 15 minutes to find the car(and if kristin reads this, it is okay because we could see the doors to find you if we never found the car again).

can't wait to hear about your 3 day trek. and am so happy that you have a natalie to travel with!

prayers, wishes for a very fun time and love to you! aunt brenda
