This show deserves a write up of its own...
I had Put a status up on Facebook about Koh Tao and an old work collegue (Gina) had said I must go to the Lady Boy show. Also we met a Madi who worked in the dive shop who said we must go and it was brilliant. We decided to go and had no idea what to expect but had head only good things about it.
There was a big group of us who went. Most of who we had met on the beach while watching the sunset... Dave from Down Under, Aussie Aaron and Richard and then Hatti and Graham joined us (a couple I met in Australia this time last year)
The show is on every night starting 9pm, each night is a different show.
The show started and I couldn't believe my eyes. I couldn't believe that these girls used to be boys!!
There was one particular girl that caught my eye. She was just stunning.
At the end of the show the girls came round getting guys to go backstage. After a few drinks I had decided that I too wanted to go back stage and asked if I could. They said yes. I dragged Jodie with me but she soon ran off. They were dressing the men up as Lady Boys. I went back out and grabbed Richard and Dave and then returned. They gave me a really nice blue dress to wear and a lovely long curly wig. When everyone was ready we lined up behind the curtain and the music started and we all had to start dancing. It was hilarious. Obviously I was the only girl... Always the twat of the group!!
I asked one of the girls if I could have my picture taken with her. Her name was May.
After the show we went on to Fish Bowl where there were doing the limbo under burning fire. Of course I had a go on this too :) I made it and got a free shot... I only tried on the highest one... I may be a twat but I'm not a gymnast!!!
Rebecca decided she wanted to go home so Jodie and I walked her back. On the way we saw all the Lady Boys having a pool party and Jodie and I put our bikinis on when we got back and went back out to join them. May called us into the pool and we got chatting to her. I asked her if she would perform Christina Auguliera, Dirty for me at the show the next day and she said yes.
We met May during the day before the show and she kept to her word and performed Christina Auguliera. The show the second time round was even better. We had front row seats and this time I wasn't in so much shock. After the show we walked Rebecca home and then went back out to meet May for drinks and went on to Fish Bowl with May and Bam Bam (another Lady Boy) Jodie and I became very fond of May as did she of Jodie and I. We spoke a lot and it really opened my eyes. I have never been a judgmental person but I never really understood why there were so many transgenders in Thailand and why before anyone went to Thailand this always came up. There is a very big misconception about Lady Boys and now I understand and have a very good friend that's come out of it :)
No matter what your views are on Lady Boys. I guarantee you will enjoy this show!!!
