KANGAROO ISLAND: A DAY AT THE RACES

AUSTRALIA | Saturday, 27 February 2010 | Views [1491]

After a week on Kangaroo Island, we finally have an internet connection again!

We took the Sealink ferry from Cape Jervis to Penishaw on Kangaroo Island for a weekend of partying last weekend in Kingscote. It just so happened that the Coopers Kangaroo Island Cup horse races were on so we went to the Twilight Street Party at the Ozone Hotel and drank a bottle of Coopers (or two or three!)and partied away with the locals.

After a night of partying we woke up in the campsite and continued the festivities by getting dressed up to go to the races with the Dutchies. The Kangaroo Island residents were dressed in their best as they drank champagne and had a flutter on the horses. Despite it being a pretty cloudy day the weather was perfect for a day of drinking!

A perfect way to begin our stay on Kangaroo Island!
