A village with a secret marathon

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Every place in the world is a kaleidoscope in itself, weaving a unique image to every person who passes through its paths. The secrets of every land are revealed in bits and pieces, and it takes many a nomad to complete the whole picture. And I believe I’m just a tiny speck in the ocean that prides itself on zillion travellers’ tales that are told and untold through breathtaking images.

I’m a 33-year-old writer from India who ardently believes in the magic of ‘Let the pictures speak.’ Travelling, for me, is a process to discover my innermost strengths; an effortless way to connect with the Universal language of the world. And yes, photography is the path to capture, what time strives to rob us off. While it is impossible to replicate the experience, the act in itself is a form of meditation.

My ‘voyage’ to Yelagiri was an act of discovery that unfolded beautifully into a series of lessons that only nature can teach us. The unforced serenity coupled with the strength of character of its common folk, reflected in every aspect of the simple mountain town. I have often travelled across villages in India and every little hamlet has taught me a new chapter. And the best lesson happens while I sleep under the starlit skies.

Like in every bit of travel where the path is as glorious as the destination, my participation in this contest is as soul-stirring as winning it! I’m not saying that I’m the most deserving of the nomads. But I will give every ‘pixel’ of my passion into ensuring complete justice to the South African voyage and creating many more stories that are yet untold!
