DUE TO A SCHEDULING CHANGE WE DOCKED AT PAPEETE before Moorea. The islands are so near each other that it hardly matters but this way works out better for us. Instead of spending our 25th anniversary looking at the Papeete mall we are anchored between two curving reefs in a beautiful bay. After all, our 25th Anniversary is the reason we're taking the cruise.
Moorea lagoon Sunset on Moorea
Granted, the weather isn’t cooperating and there isn’t much to do. We went ashore anyhow and spent a couple of hours walking in the rain. Good thing we brought along our umbrellas. Even so, given my druthers I’ll take Moorea over Papeete any day.
Happy 25th Anniversary
We considered splurging at one of the gourmet restaurants onboard to celebrate — 25 years is a milestone, after all. Instead, we decided to dress up (such as we are able) and have a drink at one of the bars and eat at the Lido buffet as usual. As it happens, the Lido was featuring Indian cuisine, not our favorite by a long shot, so we ended up in the main dining room after a stop at the martini bar. Dinner was nice and they presented us with a happy anniversary cake along with a celebratory song — in Indonesian.
