THE TRIP HASN’T ACTUALLY STARTED and already I have something to report. JetBlue has a ticketing option that includes checked bags — for a fee, of course. And I believe it comes complete with TSA pre-check which avoids the general security crush and allows you to keep your shoes on! So we had a chance to chat up the overworked — and currently unpaid — TSA employees at Orlando International. They seemed to be generally goodnatured, even this early in the morning. One confided that many TSA workers are “double-dipping” retirees who can afford to be affable. She herself is considering a second career, maybe as a part-time barista at Starbucks? Even though ground based, their futures remain up in the air until Donnie can start acting like a president.
Ya gotta be nuts to travel with kids
The second observation is there must be a special place in heaven for people who travel with children — a celestial asylum, perhaps.
