OUR PLAN FOR PARIS WAS TO DRIVE to the Campanile Hotel near CDG Airport, leave the car and take the hotel shuttle to the airport station to catch the train to Notre Dame. We didn’t count on the terrible commuter traffic, though, and it took us two hours to drive 30-something miles to Roissy. Everything else, however, went according to plan and we emerged from the Notre Dame metro station just before noon.
Someone had to like the Pyramid
We strolled along the Seine towards the Louvre. Dee, it seems, is that person you’ve heard about who doesn’t think the Louvre’s glass pyramid is an eyesore and she wanted to show it to Ken. They had no desire, however, to go inside so after lunch they hopped on the Hoponhopoff bus for a city tour while Connie and I made a beeline to the Musee d’Orsay, perhaps our favorite museum anywhere, promising to meet at five back at the Louvre.
