'Janet Jackson' with the last of the lumber

'Janet Jackson' with the last of the lumber

We finished painting the floor on yesterday and I built a cover for the compost pit and made some shelves for Passy.  When we first arrived the center was filled with lumber confiscated from an illegal sawmill.  I asked the guys to remove it and they just dumped it in a pile behind one of the buildings and we have been trying to sell it ever since.  Robert from NFA stopped by and said we could give the timber pile to the locals if  they took every last piece.  It’s much nicer now and there is nowhere for rats and snakes to hide.  I wanted a photo of one of the women (it’s always the women who do the work) carrying 5 meter planks on her head but she demanded money for the photo.  When I said, “We just gave you all the lumber for free.  Who do you think you are, Janet Jackson?” her friends all laughed and I snapped the picture.
