My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Uganda | Sunday, December 30, 2012 | 5 photos
I am Josh and I own a little black hard drive with 50000 photos on it. Recently I went to add a folder to it and it said, "The item 'Uganda 2012' cannot be copied, there is not enough space". I started looking over the photos and was instantly emotional from past experiences traveling the world as a professional kayaker.
I was born in New Zealand in 1984 into an artistic family and quickly realised my creative genes. However, it wasn't till the age of 16 that I took and developed my first photos. At University I studied Outdoor Education where I picked up a camera and developed a passion for film. In 2006 I graduated and set off around the world with my kayak and camera. I started making films of my kayaking in the most remote canyons and cultures of the world and the money I raised went to a Malaria clinic in Uganda where I was treated in 2006, 07 and 12. With an eye to capture artistic video I know with some guidance I will develop the photographic skills needed to capture the moments in photography that speak far beyond the time they encapsulate. I have the passion for photography and I know that all passion needs is a little inspiration and guidance for great things to happen!
