After this child has walked all morning to gather fresh water his feet almost blend into the backdrop of the cracked earth.

This photo is tells a lot more than what you see at first glance. From the first moment a child can walk they are necessary in the survival of a family. This photo speaks of a child held back from many of the things we take for granted. Yet this child looks out beyond this with powerful hands and a penetrating stare.

In blistering heat and humidity these young girls carry commodities from their villages across the Nile to sell in the markets. The cross - A symbol of hope? The bottles - A symbol of survival!
