Somoti dreams of moving to Oregon, USA. This is where the rest of his family lives now, but his own application for a residence permit has not yet gone through.

Biden, who lives with seven family members in a small hut in the Damak refugee camp, and his best friend for the last 16 years, the parrot Gobi. Gobi can speak, but only answers Biden, and as there is no heating or insulation in their home, Biden and Gobi share the same bed during the winter to keep the small bird warm.
