Biden, who lives with seven family members in a small hut in the Damak refugee camp, and his best friend for the last 16 years, the parrot Gobi. Gobi can speak, but only answers Biden, and as there is no heating or insulation in their home, Biden and Gobi share the same bed during the winter to keep the small bird warm.

An advertisement in the Beldangi refugee camp in Damak in Eastern Nepal. After fleeing Bhutan in the 1980’s, around 30,000 people of the Lhotsampa ethnic group still live here, with most hoping to migrate to Western countries as they are not allowed to work in Nepal, nor return to Bhutan.
