(2) The First Blast — The first big explosion of Mount Merapi in the 2010 eruption series happened on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 that destroyed a village, Kaliadem, situated in 6 km (3.7 mile) from the summit of the volcano. The volcanic materials shattered houses, schools, and public buildings, even killed pets and livestock in this village. Though the people who lived here fortunately had a chance to go the closest refuge before the burst occurred, no one had an opportunity to save all of their precious things from their home.
