After spending a few days in a small desert town near the border we caught a bus back to Bolivia. The border crossing was not a hassle this time – as opposed to the 1.5 hours it took to enter. We had caught a 7.15am bus so we would have plenty of time to get a bus in Bolivia up to Tupiza (home of Butch Cassidy and the Sun dance Kid). After such an early start we were not amused (but then again not real surprised) to find no buses at ALL in Villazon. Another political blockade – the bus folk suggested that the train was the only way out of town. So Glen headed to the train station to see if we could get tickets for the train. He came back stating the station was open but was informed the station was closed today. Typical of Bolivia. So we booked into a hotel destined to spend the night in the border town. That after noon I suggested a walk around town and back up to the trainstation so I could see it. We walked in and looked at the dude behind the counter – we walked up and asked him if we could buy tickets for the tren tomorrow and he of course looked at us like we were the dumb ones and said yep. So we managed to get our tickets even without having our passports on us. So tomorrow we’ll get out of this place yay!!
