Headed off early to Argentinas’ only decent ruins, Ruinas de Quiles. It certainly would have been a stunning fortress in it’s day. Did a quick drive back along another valley to Salta passing yet more stunning scenery – we were forced to keep stopping for more photos even though we were running late to get the car back. We got back 40 minutes late but before the 5 hour siesta so it was alright. We bumped into Alex as we drove the car into the lot and got to catch up over lunch. We had a good lunch and got taught to mix dodgy wine with soda as a refreshing drink.
We stopped into the supermarket on the way home and found a soda bottle. One top was different to the rest and as we were trying to figure out how it worked I managed to touch a spot that caused a loud sound and soda water to spurt out at high speed. After glancing at Glen’s clothes (he was holding the bottle) I was relieved to see it had missed him – and then I looked at his face – somehow the water had bounced off his hand and had gotten him square in the face – he was soaked!! Giggling our heads off we ran away from the drinks section with many locals staring after the strange gringos.
