Tempura and Tea....

UNITED KINGDOM | Wednesday, 7 November 2007 | Views [271]

Weds saw us visit Nara, a town outside Kyoto just 45 minutes by train.  Nara is famous for its Deer Park and also the world`s largest wooden building.  Boy is it huge...!  Built in the 13th Century it hosts a giant bronze buddha which is unbelievable....  Quite a magical place.  We had some great curry udons for lunch and then caught the train back to Kyoto on the hunt for Geisha`s.  We had been given a tip-off by a Kiwi couple as to where to spot them so we headed in the direction and waited... and waited... No joy!  Damn it!  Nevermind, we had a wander around old Gion which is just so beautiful with the old teahouses and restaurants and shops with all their lanterns lit.

Today (Thurs) has started with us doing our laundry, fun.. Drinking a cold green tea drink which is foul (!) and then we`re heading off shortly into Kyoto town to visit a famous shrine and grab some lunch...  We may even try some Sake with our dinner tonight...

Tomorrow we head back to Tokyo (staying at the Oak Hotel again) where we then fly out of Narita airport to HONG KONG...!

Love to you all,

B and C xxxx
