Chiang Mai has given us very welcome down time.  Although we have still done a lot of walking, nothing has been a hurry.  Yesterday morning Chris relaxed in our room & watched the Aussie Rules on cable, while I headed off for a Thai massage & mani/pedi.  We continued our quiet day until about 5 when the "Sunday Walking Street" began just down from us on the corner.  This market spreads along 2 streets for about 2-4 blocks...huge.  Very busy with many people walking the street on Sunday!  Got a few good buys and saw some very interesting "food", and tried some very tasty food.  Weary feet again.

We had no plans for today & decided after breakfast that we might go hunting for some Thai silverware.  Many silver stores are in much the same area of Chiang Mai, so we headed along to Loi Kroh Road to see what we could find.  Funny how tuk tuks and taxis driving in the opposite direction to you offer to pick you up for "good price"!  I feels like we walk miles and miles on these outings but when you look at a map it doesn't really look so far.  So weary feet needed a massage...even Chris!  A tuk tuk was called for to get us back to Pat's on our newly invigorated feet.  A message awaited us from our fellow travellers & we headed straight back out to meet Gayle & Wayne at the Tha Phae gate...lunch with great friends.  And then to explore some more of the city with them.  Silver shops, antique shops, clothing, souvenirs...then on to Warorot Markets for some interesting sights, sounds and smells...hmmm fly dried fish?!?...bulk buy grubs (or whatever they were - Wayne was almost tempted!)...but the flowers...beautiful...then some aircon time in Starbucks before hitting the Night Bazaar...bargains everywhere...delicious dinner...and the odd ladyboy!!!  A speedy tuk tuk ride back to Pat's for our last night in Chiang Mai.
