I left Christchurch on saturday morning and made my way through Lewis Pass, staying the night in Westport.. which is a tiny rather crappy down on the coast... The drive there was amazing. I am taken by the beauty of this country. I am simply speechless. It's not like most other places where I have been where you are like :oh thats pretty and then you have to drive for hours until something picture worthy appears outside your window... no, here it is the entire way you are surrounded by the most beautiful scenary. simply stunning. Whilst that trip was very much full of mountains we started today to travel down the west coast which is very different but even more stunning. Rainforrest meets cliffs and the sea. Apparently the road we took today is in the top 10 world most scenic drives. We stopped a couple of times along the way inculuding a vistit to the Pancake rocks which is I believe Limestone in the sea which has been shaped by the waves over millions of years.. also did a beautiful walk along the coast and saw a little seal colony. I couldn't stop taking pictures.. I do think I must have some Japanese genes in me :0 )  Tonight we are having a fancy dress party at a hostel which is in the middle of nowhere. I shall be going as a 'sink'. ( as theme was something starting wiht the letter of our name. Tomorrow we are heading down to Franz Josef glaciar where we will be spending an extra day ( I am planning on doing a full day glaciar walk) excitiiiiiing. oh and when I say we I mean our bus. I am doing something called the Kiwi experience which is like a hop on hop off bus the good thing is that we stop in all sorts of cool places along the way. we have quite a nice mix of people mainly brits and danish though.. speaking to all the people it is amazing to find out where they all have been and I find myself thinking: ohhh I wanna go there tooo. ;) It feels really good to unwind and simply be away from everything.. I am excited for the following weeks ahead but I must say that I think that this is the most beautiful place on earth and I just find it really touching. thinking of you Stef \\p.s this blig is really slow for loading up pictures so I put them on facebook instead. the link is the following
