Hard at work

UGANDA | Thursday, 10 January 2013 | Views [245] | Comments [2]

Hello

We have survived 3 days at our new 'jobs' in Entebbe! we started work on monday and have been pretty much bombared with lots of information abot CTPH and all the work they are doing. The office is lovely ( i will take a pic soon and upload) set in a quiet part of Entebbe in beautiful gardens. The peole in teh organisation all seem very lovely and friendly and have been really welcoming too us.

We ar currenlty (as in any new job) trying to work out exactly what it is they wat us to do but there seems like lots of things that need doing so hopefully all will become clear. We are most likely going to be in Entebbe learning about CTPH for the next week and the heading to the jungle early the following week.

The rainy season apparantely ahs over run here so still we cannot escape the rain, although the difference is it is sunny and warm in between the rainfall.

We are currently staying in a lovly hotel but moving in to Entebbe Wildlfie Centre which is a bit like a zoo which should be cool so we can wander around and see all the animals! alos hoping to get out on a boat in lake victoria at the weekend.

On of our best discoveries so far is Waragi, Ugandan Gin which is super cheap, I think we have had this everynight since we arrived so might cm eback with a bit of a gin habbit!

thats is form me for now

Hey all,

Short note from me again, amusing seeing that Helen never believed in blogs! All good here, work is just starting here, just to give you a low-down: CTPH are working to monitor Gorilla health and provide veterinary care when necessary. They also work in Public health to try to improve the lifestyles of the people living around the parks (they found that diseases were passing from the people to the gorillas!).

They are involved in improving education on sanitation, conservation, improving fmily planning to reduce the poverty levels and teaching tem to identify diseases. Tink I am supposed to help teach the communit workers and ases the community nutrition levels but we will see!

Excited about living in the Zoo this weekend! Will wake up surrounded by Rhino's, lions, giraffe and Zebra, hope they don't snore! Maybe off to the Chimp Island and then in a few weeks moving out to the jungle!

Please leave any comments or thoughts on the comments board, internet is poor here and this seems to be one of te only things we can access!

Love you all............Simon

Hi Helen & Simon,

Robyn just forwarded me your blog details. I've not had a chance to read through all of them yet - but what I've digested so far sounds bloody amazing!
I hope you both continue to have a fabulous trip.
