We arrived in Berlin last evening about 7 pm after a long day. Flew through Zurich ( $5 Coke Zero yikes!!!) and tthe Koln and finally to Berlin. Staying @ the Citadines Apartment Hotel for the week ( part of our time share ) .. nice room with a kitchen. Went to the grocery store across the street last night to pick up a few things. This morning we are planning our week. Today we are going to the cemetary Cindy's great grand father is buried. Not sure what else we will do. Nice to be in one spot for a few days after being on the move every day walking on the Camino. Anyway gonna head downstairs to get some more coffee before we head out. Will check later in the day. The weather is sunny and coolish but not raining...
Well walked some 15 miles today. Spent time at the cementary but unfortunately were not able to find the grave. Spent the rest of the day resting and getting some takeout chicken from the "Flying Chicken" a small take out spot just across the street from our apartment hotel. The fies were so good after hoofing around all day. The walk was good and had lunch at a local neighbourhood restaurant. A lot of very nice houses but what surprised us was the boulevards and hrubbery was not trimmed and looked very unkept and shaggy. Not what we would have expected. @morrow might do a bike tour of Berlin to see some historic sites..
July 1st.. spent the morning in the hotel catching up and drinking coffee... then to the zoo for a few hours. It was a fun and quiet time and a very nice zoo with plenty of exhibits. On the way back had a nice lunch with Cindy @ an outside cafe. Back at the hotel .. had a snooze and then out for pizza at a local restaurant across the street from our hotel..great pizza.. picked up a few things at the grocery store and now in for the evening ..weather was rainy this morning but turned out to bea nice sunny afternoon .. hopefully we will do the bike tour 2morrow of many of the highlights of Berlin....over and out .. goodnight...
