My Scholarship entry - JOURNEY TO THE END OF THE EARTH
Maldives | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos
So, what kind of person does one become having grown up in a place that is famously known as ‘Paradise on Earth’? I learnt to love Mother Earth in all of its glory hailing from the Maldives, and I thirsted to tell its story through my passion for photography.
Photography and I crossed paths through the camera lens of my father, and through that very same lens, I saw a way to immortalize the world’s beauty. With one click from my camera, I always aim to tell a story worth a million words, with minimal editing as possible.
Apart from working as a graphic designer, I also run an NGO focusing on environmental issues and youth empowerment. Moreover, in 2012, I joined polar explorer Robert Swan on an environmental stewardship program to Antarctica, which allowed me to tell a compelling story of the place through my photographs, with which I’ve been conducting inspirational sessions for youth, to empower them in making a positive difference.
Every year, my goal is to save, plan and explore another corner of this magnificent Earth and this scholarship mentored by the best in the business will be the stepping-stone for my dream of being a travel photographer.
