Ladakh - the top of India
Ladakh is a beautiful, remote region in Northern India with rugged mountains, green valleys, blue skies, ancient monasteries and striking people.
My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
India | Tuesday, January 1, 2013 | 5 photos
In 2006, a friend remarked, “a man must have a hobby”: I picked up a DSLR. Then I travelled to stunning Yosemite and discovered Adams’ work. My interest – sparked as a 12-year-old ruining film making photos of birds in our well-wooded locality outside Mumbai – got rekindled into a passion.
Since then I’ve studied, honed and enjoyed my craft. I left my job a year ago, and photography became my vocation. It’s now what I do.
Now I shoot more, chimp less; compose carefully, work quickly. I pursue optimal gear but expose subconsciously. I’m always evaluating the light and framing shots in my head. I envision the image before I shoot it. Sometimes I feel the world rewards my toil by offering me more decisive moments.
I love to tell stories about people, places and nature in our beautiful, ever-changing world, and daydream of being noticed by Nat Geo. Editors, galleries, potential clients, online followers, do listen but I'm hungry to learn to create work they want: that inspires them. Learning from Jason while shooting Oman’s colours and contrasts will be a privilege that will improve my future images and help me find a viable direction for my work. I can’t wait for Feb 4.
Thank you.
