My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Singapore | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos
When you grow up in a small country like Singapore, you don't get the chance to see nature very much. The few trips I have taken outside my home island are always fascinating to me, even nearby Malaysia with its vast palm oil plantations and small towns. I guess that is why nature and wildlife hold such wonder for me.
As I was growing up, I have always wanted to capture everything I saw, before it got lost in time. Photography to me is the gift of immortalizing an indescribable moment, with a bit of luck and loads of skill. I am always learning new things about myself with the pictures I take, and photography has taught me to see the world beyond its surface for its beauty.
The thirst for travel, to see and capture new places has always been in me. This scholarship calls out to all my dreams - to travel, to learn from a professional about photography, to see nature in all its glory. I want to be able to experience living and breathing photography in such a breath-taking scene, and then be able to share and let others feel that same awe-inspiring majesty through my photographs. I hope that this scholarship will teach me how to channel that dream into my work.
