Day 10 Straubing -Mühlham (50kms)

GERMANY | Wednesday, 18 June 2008 | Views [266]

After yesterday's painfully slow progress I was awarded with some speed today and got to the finish before 3:00pm. At lunch I was almost arrested for trespassing on private property but the Bavarian police showed heart and a sense of humour letting me off with a warning saying that shipyards are no place for a Coleman Featherlight unleaded fuel cooker (with open flame!). Also my generous offer of sharing in my elaborately prepared meal of Penne in spinach sauce was politely declined.

Mühlham is a one horse village or one house town whichever way you want to look at it. However, what is there is typically Bavarian and just brilliant. In the Bierkeller, which incidentally is a terrace, I had the finest steak and swabian pasta ever. With a salad, Two liters of drink and a dessert I paid the equivalent of fifteen quid and I basigally sat there for six hours resting before retiring to my free camp ground. Don't you just love a bargain?
