My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Thailand | Thursday, January 3, 2013 | 5 photos
My love for travel has given me opportunities to explore unfamiliar landscapes, experience new cultures and create friendships. My love of photography lets me share it. Whether it is surfing in Samoa, scuba diving in Vanuatu or mountain biking in Thailand, I strive to capture moments to give others a first hand experience of the places I have been privileged to see.
I believe every shot should tell a story. There are so many variables that influence the outcome of a shot. It’s that one photo that makes a person smile or brings a tear to their eye that reinforces the power of photography. This evoking of raw emotion fuels my desire to control variables, overcome challenges and get that perfect shot.
There is only so much an amateur photographer can get out of studying their manual or reading a magazine. It’s time behind the lens that matters most. The opportunity to assist Jason in Oman is not only a foot in the door with National Geographic but also the opportunity I have been looking for to turn my passion into my profession.
Who knows, maybe one day I will be selecting a photography enthusiast to join me on one of my adventures to pass onto them the knowledge passed down to me
