"What's the weather like?"

“What’s the weather like?”

I could say “it’s hot,” but I don’t quite think those words are adequate enough to explain the kind of heat I’m talking about.  Paris & I got scorched just from walking around one day.  We looked like hot pink zebras just from the neck and arm lines from our t-shirts.

This weekend we went to the beach (la playa) for the first time and being out in the sun on the beach here is like being outdoors for MONTHS at home.  First of all, I must mention that we did load up on sunscreen (don’t worry mom, we’re trying to be smart J), but nonetheless I now have red toes (from where the tops of my sandals stopped), bright red ears, a hot pink neck, and drastic tan lines.  Fortunately, my face & shoulders aren’t burnt at all because I souped on about 10x as much sunscreen on these parts of my body compared to the rest, and for some reason Paris’ kneecaps are bright white & didn’t get any sun at all.

So yeah, it’s hot!  We were really only out in the sun for a day and a half and we used a whole bottle of sunscreen!  And if you looked at us, you wouldn’t think we used any.  Of course, Giselle just turned browner, and Erik blacker, but Paris & I could now both be closely related to lobsters.

Let’s see, what else can I say about the weather?  We’ve been taking 2 showers a day also – one in the morning & one at night – because it’s hot here!  (I wouldn’t have normally done this because I’m in someone else’s house & don’t want to use too much of their water, but Erik & Giselle do it too, so it’s okay J).  I wake up in the morning sweating, I go to sleep sweating… My hands always feel dirty & slimy and I think I am maintaining a constant smell, but I can’t really tell because I think we all smell the same.  LOL.

And now that I’m sunburnt, I feel even hotter.  And I’m not alone; Paris’ new nickname is “the radiator.”  She says she feels like bacon.  Not just any bacon, the kind Josh makes – extra crispy & burnt bacon.

I can definitely tell for 100% certainty that the next time you see me, I won’t look like a ghost.

Ha!  Paris just walked into the room in a little whimper and said, “why didn’t we bring 80 (SPF)?”  During our next grocery store stop, we’re going to be buying MUCH stronger sunscreen!  But if anyone’s looking for a good face lotion with sunscreen, I recommend Oil of Olay J.
